A Pilgrimage 2011
The Bishop of
Salisbury, Dr David Stancliffe, will lead a major
pilgrimage to Italy next May covering Rome,
Florence and Assisi.
Dr Stancliffe is
an expert on worship and church architecture and
will bring a wealth of experience to this
fascinating tour.
Dr Stancliffe
has been Bishop for Salisbury for 17 years and has
written a number of books including The Pilgrim
Prayerbook, God's Pattern and most recently The
Lion Companion to Church Architecture.
The pilgrimage
has been organised by specialist Christian Holiday
provider Lightline Pilgrimages.
Leaving London
on Monday 9 May 2011 (returning the 19th), the
pilgrimage includes important places in the
Christian faith right across Italy. Some highlights
including St Peter’s Basilica, the Church of St
Francis of Assisi and the Duomo.

Dr Stancliffe
said today: “In essence, the act of going on
pilgrimage has changed little over the years and
the fact that this is an ecumenical pilgrimage will
add a special dimension, not least as we mark each
day with an appropriate act of worship.”
There will be
talks, lectures on specialist areas, readings and
prayers will be offered at many of the
sites.
The group will
stay in good quality hotels and fly on scheduled
airlines.
